With the coronavirus outbreak around the world, many countries are starting to loosen the lockdown. And allow people to go back to their activities again. Yet the biggest concern is how we can protect ourselves. What precautions and procedures should we follow to avoid the risk of being contaminated?
Some people are already taking steps of wearing facemasks and protective gloves in public places.
The Centers for Diseases Control (CDC) recommends the use of masks and gloves while you’re outside your house like going to grocery or pharmacy.
But Many health experts have noticed that people when they are outside they aren’t wearing or disposing of the gloves properly, which is totally against the whole purpose. Moreover, gloves are not always an effective measure of protection if they aren’t used properly and correctly. To help you, here are 9 examples that prove you’re wearing protective gloves in the wrong way. Needless to say, AVOID THEM.
1. You take them off wrong
One of the first common wrong habits people do to remove their gloves is that when they take their first glove they touch the outside of the second glove with their clean hand that may become contaminated.
When you want to take the gloves off, the first thing you need to do is to hold the outside part of one glove at the wrist and make sure not to touch your bare skin, peel it away from your body, pull it inside and hold the glove removed in the other hand which is still gloved. Put your fingers between the gloves and your skin at the top of the wrist, and then turn the second glove inside out while you are removing it away from your body. Clean your hand as soon as you remove the gloves.
2. You touch your face with gloves
Wearing gloves can give you a fake sense of security; people usually think they are safe and protected and start touching their faces or their face masks with their dirty hands which is probably a common way to get infected.
Many people are not used to wearing gloves or face masks, so they have not developed a correct way to deal with them. As a solution, the gloves should be treated as if you are not wearing them, they are your bare hands, and they can easily be contaminated.
